Botswana Safari
Botswana offers visitors the chance to experience all the wonders an African safari has to offer in one place. Botswana includes both the endless plains of the Kalahari Desert and the serene waters of the -Okavango Delta, the world’s largest delta. The country is home to the Chobe National Park, the place to see large numbers of game roaming freely in all of Africa. The largest elephant population on the planet also resides within the park. About 17 percent of Botswana is national reserves, the largest being the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The Moremi Game Reserve houses cheetah, leopard, lion, buffalo, lechwe and wild dog. Bird species native to Botswana include coppery-tailed coucal, carmine bee-eater and violet-eared waxbill. Tuli Block is among the most popular destinations in Botswana because of it’s spectacular geographical beauty. Safari goers to Botswana can experience sleeping under the stars on the Makgadikgadi salt pans, take a cruise on the Chobe River, learn the ancient art of tracking from bushmen in the Kalahari and enjoy some time in a traditional Chobe village.
Botswana has a rainy season between December and March but storms often occur in short bursts of thundershowers after which spectacular sunlight illuminates the sky. Many resorts and establishments welcome families but keep in mind that safaris are not recommended for children under the age of 6 and some lodges allow no one under 12 years. Lodging options include Eagle Island Camp which offers paradise tucked away in the waterways of the Delta, Savute Elephant Camp, where visitors can get the best birds eye view of elephants in the country and the Cresta Thapama Hotel, for more contemporary visitors.
